Vintage Trifari JewelryI have a small collection of vintage costume jewelry in addition to my charm bracelets.   My favorites are plastic jewelry from the mid twentieth century.  Featured is one of my Trifari sets.  I'm not sure of the name of the collection but these were made in aqua, coral and yellow colors, all coordinated with opalescent white.  The plastic beads are all prong set in smooth gold tone metal, called "trifanium", and have the Trifari name.

I've found these pictured in several books, two of which I own, "Collectible Costume Jewelry" written by Cherri Simonds, and "Mid-Century Plastic Jewelry", by Susan Maxine Klein.  Both books date the pieces to the late 1950s and early 1960s.  I particularly like the yellow set with the lariat style necklace, along with the matching bracelet and clip earrings.  There are several other shapes and styles from this same collection that I've seen in vintage jewelry books.  I'm always on the look out for more of this collection when I'm browsing vintage stores and on line.  They are becoming more rare when in good condition and the value has skyrocketed recently.  I hope my readers will enjoy viewing them and perhaps become inspired to preserve vintage jewelry for future generations.
