Trifari Poured Glass FlowerIf you search the vintage costume jewelry listings on eBay or Ruby Lane you will no doubt see quite a few with the term “Poured Glass” in the title or description.  For those new to collecting here is a summary of what to expect when you purchase a piece of poured glass jewelry.

Poured glass jewelry is made by a process of pouring colored molten glass into molds of various shapes.  The result is a translucent or cloudy piece of formed glass with a smooth surface, which is then set into a metal frame for protection.  Poured glass is common in vintage flower petal or leaf jewelry and can be found in a variety of colors.  I’ve seen quite a bit of poured glass Trifari and Coro jewelry pieces that were made in the 1950s and 1960s but other designers used the technique also.  Here are some examples of poured glass jewelry for sale on eBay right now.
